🔑 What Is Coordinated Entry?

Coordinated Entry is the single gateway to the housing system across Metro Denver. It's run by MDHI (Metro Denver Homeless Initiative) and covers Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas, and Jefferson counties.

You complete one assessment, and it determines your priority level for housing programs — including emergency shelter, rapid rehousing, transitional housing, and permanent supportive housing.

HOW IT WORKS

📋 The Process — Step by Step

Step 1 — Get Assessed: Call 303-734-2017 or visit mdhi.org/need-help. You can also walk into participating locations like St. Francis Center (2323 Curtis St) or Stout Street Health Center (2130 Stout St).

Step 2 — Complete the VI-SPDAT: This is a short vulnerability assessment. It asks questions about your situation to determine how urgent your housing need is. Answer honestly — this directly affects your priority score.

Step 3 — Get Matched: Based on your score, you're placed in a queue for available housing programs. Case managers can then help you with documents, applications, and next steps.

💡 Important: You only need to complete the assessment once — it covers the entire 7-county region. If you've already done it, you don't need to start over. Ask your case manager about your status.

💡 Tip: Walk-in is often faster than calling. Bring any ID or documents you have, but don't let missing paperwork stop you — they can still start the process.
REALITY CHECK

⏳ What to Expect

Housing waitlists in Denver can be months or even years long. This is the reality of the system right now. But here's what matters: you can't move up a list you're not on.

Get assessed today. Stay in contact with your case manager. Keep your phone number and contact information current — if they can't reach you when a spot opens, it goes to the next person.
