Transportation (RTD)
Free and reduced-fare RTD bus & light rail, the LiVe low-income pass, and transit tips for getting around Denver.
π« RTD LiVe Program
RTD's LiVe (Low-income Verified) program gives you a 50% discount on all bus and light rail fares across the entire RTD service area β including trips to/from the airport.
π Zero Fare for Youth (Ages 19 & Under)
All youth ages 19 and under ride RTD for free β bus and rail, all routes, all zones. This is now a permanent program. You just need a valid school ID, government-issued ID, or RTD-issued youth card.
π Transit Assistance Grant (TAG) Program
RTD provides free ticket books to nonprofits and social service organizations that serve people with immediate transit needs. Ask at St. Francis Center, Denver Rescue Mission, or your case manager if they have RTD tickets available through TAG.
β οΈ Don't Skip the Fare
RTD enforces fares. Riding without a valid pass can result in a fine of up to $106.50 and potential suspension from RTD services. If you can't afford the fare, apply for LiVe or ask your case manager about free tickets before riding.
πΊ Key Routes for Services
Most shelters and service centers in Denver are accessible by RTD bus. The RTD MyRide app (free) is the easiest way to plan routes and pay fares from your phone.
Key service areas are clustered along the 16th Street Free MallRide (always free), Colfax Ave (Route 15/15L), and the Broadway corridor.
