Accessibility
Our commitment to accessible design.
Our Commitment
Homeless Denver is designed to be usable by as many people as possible, including people using mobile phones, screen readers, keyboard navigation, or older devices.
Design Choices
- Mobile-first: Designed for phones first. Works on older Android and iPhone devices.
- High contrast: Text meets WCAG 2.1 AA contrast requirements.
- Large tap targets: Buttons and links are large enough for touch use.
- Readable typography: Clean font stack, appropriate sizing, adequate line spacing.
- Semantic HTML: Proper heading structure, landmark elements, and accessible form labels.
- Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements are reachable by keyboard. Focus indicators are visible.
- Skip link: A skip-to-main-content link appears on focus at the top of every page.
- Alt text: Images include descriptive alt text.
- No flashing content: Nothing on this site flashes or strobes.
Known Limitations
This is an independent project maintained by one person. Some areas may not yet meet full WCAG 2.1 AA compliance. We are actively working to improve accessibility over time.
