Emergency Shelter – Denver Metro
Where to start tonight if you need a bed or a safe indoor place in Denver, Aurora or nearby areas.
How to use this guide
- Start with the main Denver entry points if you are in the city (Lawrence Street, St. Francis Center, Samaritan House).
- If you are on the east side or in Aurora, look at the Aurora & east metro section below.
- Families with kids and youth have special programs – jump to the Families & Youth section.
- Cold weather can trigger extra beds. Always ask staff “What’s open tonight?” because things change.

Safety & self-respect notes
- Ask where you're actually sleeping (hotel, dorm, mats on floor) before you commit if you can.
- Keep meds, ID and phone on you, not just in a bin or bag that can get lost.
- If a place feels unsafe, trust that feeling and talk to staff or plan to move as soon as you have another option.
- You deserve to be treated like a human being. If staff cross lines, document what happens and tell someone you trust.
